These are Eastern Armenian forms, i.e. the variety of Armenian spoken in Armenia, Russia, etc. and Iran, but they are easily understood by Armenians everywhere. The apostrophe *preceding* a syllable means that syllable is more strongly stressed. Pronounce the vowels as in Italian or Spanish, or should I say Scottish, i.e. a, e, i, o, u as in heart, get (gate), feet, note, soot, but shorter. These are only approximate transcriptions, since Armenian has its own alphabet.
