Africa

IVU fully financed the first ever African Veg Congress in Nigeria in 2007. For reports from that and plans for more as they are made go to: www.ivu.org/africa

  The 2nd West Africa Vegetarian Congress will take place in Accra, Ghana Oct 28-Nov 1, 2009. Korblah Wisdom from Ghana is putting an exciting  programme for the congress. Start now to plan to be in Ghana for the Congress. For regular updates join the ivu-africa email group.


Asia
The Asian Vegetarian Union (AVU) was founded in 1999 during the IVU World Veg Congress in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Asian Veg Congresses have been held in Goa, India; Bangkok, Thailand and in Taiwan. The next event is on Batam Island, Indonesia, November 6-10, 2009. For info go to: www.avc2009.org

Europe

The European Vegetarian Union (EVU) started holding regional Congresses in 1985. In recent years they have held 'EVU Talks' in different countries in May of each year. The 2009 talks were held in Croatia in May 2009.

Vegan Music and Arts Festival - 19-26 Aug, 2009, Largentière, Ardèche, France. There will be concerts, discussions, food and more at this first ever event. They are looking for volunteers and associations/groups to get involved.

Latin America

The Unión Vegetariana Latino-Americana (UVLA) was founded during the IVU World Veg Congress held in Brazil, 2004. They have organised one Regional Congress so far, in Sao Paulo, 2006, with more planned for the future. For details as they become available see: www.ivu.org/uvla (Español / Português)

North America

The North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS) was founded in 1974 to help promote the first IVU World Veg Congress to be held in North America in 1975. NAVS has organised an annual Regional Congress ever since - now called the Summerfest, and usually held in Johnstown, PA.
