IGUAZU FALLS AND RIO DE JANEIRO
Iguazu
Falls - an average of 553 cubic feet per second thundering
down 269 feet, the tropical location and the sheer beauty that
led Eleanor Roosevelt exclaim "Poor Niagara". Four times
the width of Niagara Falls, Iguazu Falls are divided by various
islands into separate waterfalls. During the rainy season of November-March,
the rate of flow may reach 450,000 cubic feet (12,750 cubic m)
per second.

Nov 14 Departure
from Florianopolis to Iguazu Falls at 10:50 arriving at 2:10 pm.
After check in on the fantastic Hotel Tropical das Cataratas we
will do a nice tour in one of the most beautiful natures of the
world. We will see 275 water falls precipitating in a fantastic
water volume with medium height of 65m (the greatest, the Throat
of the Devil, has 90m). After the tour we will return to the hotel.One
of the many features of the Hotel Tropical das Cataratas is breakfast
in the fresh morning air, while watching the low-flying toucans
and the spinning and diving swallows in the mist around the falls.
The only hotel inside Iguazu National Park is in direct contact
with one of the most extraordinary natural wonders of the world.
Its fine, classic colonial architecture, painted in light pink
and with wooden stairways, makes every exploration jaunt along
the wide corridors and through the adjoining tropical gardens
a special delight.

Nov 15 After
breakfast we will head to Macuco Safari - a tour in open carts
pulled by jeeps, covering tracks of exuberant landscapes. At River
Iguazu we will take inflatable boats until the base of the falls.
In the afternoon we will go to Puerto Iguazu - headquarter of
the Iguazu National Park (http://whc.unesco.org/pg.cfm?cid=31&id_site=303)
which holds 80% of the Falls where we can observe the famous Throat
of the Devil from the best point of view.
Nov 16 In
the morning we will visit the National Park - Unesco patrimony
of the humanity. It shelters old tracks like the Lagoon (1 km),
Banana Tree (3 km) and Black Well (10 km), providind direct contact
with the fauna and flora of the region. After that we´ll return
to the hotel for lunch and departure to the airport.

Nov 16 - Departure
from Iguazu Falls to Rio de Janeiro at 15:30 arriving at
18:40. Accommodation in the hotel Luxor
Copacabana - dinner at vegan restaurant Vegetariano Social
Club.
Nov 17 - Visit
to Pao de Açucar, Outeiro da Gloria, MAM (Modern Art Museum) and
Aterro do Flamengo (the largest park by the beach in the world),
Rio-Niteroi Bridge. Lunch at Verdejante - a vegetarian restaurant
in a rural area of Niteroi, at the house of the artists Maria
Pia and Oscar Palacios. Nightfall at Ipanema Beach. Dinner then
drum section at Mangueira School of Samba.

18 - Corcovado, Tijuca Forest (the biggest urban forest
in the world) via Itanhanga, Burle Marx House, lunch at Barreado
- Vargem Grande. Pontal Museum, Pepino Beach and Gavea. Nightfall
at Copacabana beach. At night: Lapa. Dinner at Rio Scenarium
.
Nov 19 - Jardim
Botanico (Botanical Gardens) in the morning. Return to the hotel
and transfer to the airport.

Tropical islands
Trip from the hotel
to Itacuruça via the Rio-Santos road. Trip in a Saveiro (long
and narrow fishing boat) to the Bay of Sepetiba, bath of sea in
Jaguanum. Lunch in the Island (buffet assorted). Return to the
Port of Itacuruça to catch the bus and return to the hotel.
Helicopter tour
At the Helicopter
tour the visitor will be havr an extensive vision of the nature
of Rio de Janeiro, with its only relief, its famous quarters and
beaches, as Ipanema and Copacabana, tourist points as Pao de Açucar,
Corcovado and Botanical Garden, the Lagoon Rodrigo de Freitas
and the Bay of Guanabara, at last, all this largeness capable
to shelter a so happy people as the Carioca. The visitor will
make a calm and safe stroll and will be able to register this
moment, that with certainly will be an unforgettable experience.
Petropolis
Located only 60 km
away from of Rio de Janeiro, Petropolis is known as the Imperial
City, where D. Pedro II passed half of the year. During this period,
it was the administrative capital of the Empire. Its privileged
nature and pleasant climate favoring the arts and the intellectual
production. During the passage we have a flaring sight of the
Serra dos Orgaos, a chain of peaks, where impressive the maximum
altitude reaches 2.263m. The first one stopped for external photos
will be in the Quitandinha Hotel, tourist landmark of the city.
Inaugurated in the decade of 40, it was the biggest casino hotel
of the South America, and received celebrities such as Carmen
Miranda, Orson Wells, Errol Flynn.
