The view from the Lotus Hotel across the north-western suburbs of Chiang Mai towards the mountains. The Doi Suthep temple is near the middle-top of the mountain - just visible as a white speck. (taken through a tinted hotel window on a hazy day!)

from the same window as above, looking west.

The old part of Chiang Mai has a square moat around it, this is the north-west corner, very close to the Lotus Hotel. There are a very large number of motorcycles.

One of many three-wheel taxis used by congress-goers to get around town (after bartering over the price of the ride...)

One of the four-wheel taxis, basically a pick-up truck with side benches and a roof, complete with two congress-goers (identified by the green badge).
