LOCAL ESCORTED TOURS
(A minmum of 30 passengers required for each tour)

CITY OF BANGOR (half day) - August 17
Home of the early lumber barons when Bangor was once the lumber capital of the world; the famous "Salmon Pool"; imposing Paul Bunyan statue; home of Hannibal Hamlin, Vice President under Abraham Lincoln; tour of the elegant Symphony House and the Penobscot Heritage Museum tracing the early history of Bangor; $5.00

CASTINE - BLUE HILL - PENOBSCOT BAY AREA (full day) - August 18
The first stop will be at the historic Black Mansion in Ellsworth, a fine example of Georgian architecture, then to the picturesque, quiet town of Blue Hill noted for its handsome pottery; a tour of Castine which for nearly 200 years was the center of a struggle for three nations $10.00

DOWN EAST - BAR HARBOR (full day) - August 19
Discover the beauty of this world renowned area, one of the most beautiful to be seen anywhere in the world, with its rugged and breath taking views from the top of Cadillac Mountain and along Ocean Drive. Included also is a two-hour narrated cruise from Northeast Harbor around the many islands off Mt. Desert Island. $13.00

COASTAL - ROCKLAND (full day) - August 20
Tour includes travel through many small seaport villages along the Penobscot River en route to the beautiful coast of Maine; stops are made in Searsport at the Penobscot Marine Museum and then on to Camden. "Prettiest Town in Maine" with its delightful harbor, then to the top of Mt. Battle with its magnificent panoramic view; and a visit to the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland with its collection of Andrew Wyeth paintings. $10.00

MOOSEHEAD LAKE REGION (full day) - August 21
A tour through small historic towns, stopping to view a covered bridge en route to Moosehead Lake. The largest in Maine. Here you will cruise on the lake as well as ride a chairlift to the top of Squaw Mountain overlooking the lake and the majestic mountains of Maine including Mt. Katahdin, the end of the Appalachian Trail, which begins in Georgia. $13.00

NEARING HOMESTEAD - HARBORSIDE (full day) - August 26
SPECIAL TOUR to the famous Maine homestead of Helen & Scott Nearing. Visit wih the Nearings; tour their lovely rustic home and examine their celebrated organic garden and greenhouse. Chat with this wonderful pair of vegetarian humanitarians.- $5.00

All the preceding tours will leave the registration area at the University of Maine at 8:30 A.M. and return to the campus by 4:30 P.M. with the exception of the half-day Bangor tour which will return to Orono by 12.15 P.M. Special arrangements will be made for lunches on day-long tours adhering strictly to Vegetarian diets.

POST-CONFERENCE TOURS
(A minmum of 30 passengers required for each tour)

While in this area of North America, many will want to stay for awhile longer after the Congress adjourns. In view of this fact, two special escorted tours, one-week each, have been especially designed for you to see as much as possible before returning home. The motor-coach tours will leave the Univeristy of Maine on Augsut 29, 1975 and end on September 4 in either Toronto or New York depending on the tour you select

NEW ENGLAND - BOSTON NEW YORK CITY - Aug. 29 - Sept. 4, 1975
A complete tour of historical and picturesque New England and America's largest city New York. Travel along Maine's famous rugged coastline en route to Portland. Overnight in Portland then on to New Hampshire's scenic White Mountains. From here you will travel to Boston to take in Boston's historic sights including an afternoon trip to Plymouth Rock and Mayflower II. Overnight in Providence before going to newport, Rhode Island and Mystic, Connecticut, the restored whaling community. Overnight in Mystic then to new York City with a guided tour of the Empire State Building, Rockerfeller Center, Wall Street, China Town, a boat trip around Manhattan by the Statue of Liberty and much more. The seventh day will be free to explore New York City before your return flight home later in the day.

QUEBEC - MONTREAL - NIAGARA FALLS - TORONTO - Aug. 29 - Sept. 4, 1975
A complete tour of Canada's colorful Provinces of Quebec and Ontario, including North America's natural wonder: Niagara Falls. Travel through Maine's beautiful Moosehead Lake region to the farming valleys of Quebec. Overnight in Quebec City with a tour the next day of the last walled city in North America, with its romantic French flavor. On to Montreal for sightseeing in this truly international city. Travel the St. Lawrence River valley to Toronto, Canada's fastest growing city. The sixth day of your tour will take you to Niagara Falls for a full day of sightseeing in and around the Falls. Overnight near the Falls on the Canadian side before returning to Toronto for personal sightseeing and leisure before taking your return flight home later in the day.
