This Society has been struggling manfully with various disadvantages,
and is now on the highway to success. Twenty members have actually
paid their subscription, together with a fair proportion of Associates,
and a good number given in their names, though they have not yet
pledged themselves. About twenty-five meetings have been held exclusive
of committees, which have been well attended, and it will greatly
assist the Honorary Secretary if friends in the neighbourhood can
obtain permission from any Temperance Society, Band of Hope, a Mothers'
Meeting, Club, etc., to which they belong, to arrange for a debate,
address, musical evening, or other form of propaganda.
