Date of formation, May 19th, 1890.
During the past year meetings have been held in Belfast and vicinity,
which were addressed by Messrs. Herron, Semple and Stratton. Mr.
Semple also addressed meetings in different parts of the country,
where be was lecturing and exhibiting lime light views. Owing to
the removal of the Vegetarian Restaurant to more extensive premises,
the monthly meetings were discontinued, as it was very difficult
to get an audience, the frequenters of the Restaurant generally
living out of the city. But every available opportunity of addressing
Young Men's Societies, Bands of Hope, and Good Templars' Meetings
was taken advantage of and Vegetarian literature distributed. The
Irish Vegetarian Union will send lecturers to any meeting where
they will be allowed to give information on Vegetarianism.
