Gérman Alberti Vasquez, President of the Sociedad Naturista
de Venezuela, and Secretary General of the Federacion Naturista Latino-Americana,
reported swiftening interest in vegetarianism in all Latin American
countries - in Mexico City alone there are 15 flourishing vegetarian
restaurants. The move towards vegetarianism is specially marked among

situation. Venezuela, Israel and the U.S.A. had been suggested for the
1984 Congress. Dr Alberti felt that Venezuela would not be possible
for 1984. The decision about the venue for 1984 was referred to the
General Assembly with a recommendation that the offer by the N.A.V.S.
for the United States in late July or early August should be accepted. Minutes of a meeting of the International Council of I.V.U. held at the University of Maryland, Catonsville, U.S.A. on the 31st July, 1984. Dr. German Alberti reported that there would be a Latin American Regional Congress in 1985. Continued Meeting 4/8/84 Present: . . . Dr. G. Latin America Dr German Alberti reported the growing interest in vegetarianism and that the numbers of vegetarian societies continued to grow, The health advantages of vegetarianism were attracting many people and vegetarian restaurants were growing in number. It was agreed to ask Joaquin Him to telephone Mexico and Dr German Alberti to obtain some information and to further consider the matter when such-information had been received. Continuation of the Meeting of the International Council on 31st March, 1986.12. 1988 World Congress continued - The responses to the telephone
calls by Mr Him were discussed. Due to the concern about the lack of
information and firm plans it was agreed that the Hon. General Secretary
should respond to the letter coming from Mexico and indicate the need
for information to be provided regularly. Continuation of the Meeting of the International Council in the evening of 1st April, 1986 It was agreed that Mr Francisco Martin should accompany the Hon. General Secretary on his visit to Mexico should Dr German Alberti not be able to attend.
