MEETING OF THE IVU EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

- Minutes -

Apoligies recevied from: Herr Hiller, Pastor Skriver, Dr B Latto, Dr D Latto.

Present: Marquis de St Innocent (in Chair) Mrs James (Treasurer); Dr G Latto, Dr Nussbaum, Mr Vinkenborg, and General Secretary (G.L.Rudd)

MINUTES of the previous meeting were apporved and signed by the Chairman.

18th WORLD CONGRESS 1965 Programme and Speakers:

The General Secretary sunmitted a list of speakers who had accepted invitations to speak. These included -

The President, Deputy President (Herr Hiller), Dr Nussbaum, Mrs Rukmini Devi it was hoped, Dr Ralph Bircher, Dr J de Margette, Dr Alan Stoddard, Dr Gordon Latto, Dr Barbara Latto, Lady Eve Balfour, The Lady Dowding, Father Wrighton, Pastor Skriver, Dr Ferrandiz.

These were fitted into a tentative programme with some latitude for more if necessary.

It was agreed that: The President and Deputy President shjould make short speeches of welcome at the opening Session together with the Presidents of the two British National Societies. A time to be allotted to the youth delegates from Intervega to use as they desired.

That all foreign societies should be asked to send specimens of literature, magazines and posters for a display at the Congress.

That the National Association of Helath Foods should be invited to arrange an exhibition of all British Health Foods and Utensils.

That a number of sub-committees should be formed to relieve the General Secretary of detail work - such as reception and Social Committees.

That Mr Raymond Dextriet should be invited to speak and be offered hospitality.

That the Chairman should keep speakers to the alloted time and that a light and/or bell should be installed on the dais.

That practical demonstrations were very important and that cookery demonstrations including methods of making wholemeal bread should be included. Mrs James agreed to do this and the General Secretary said he would also prepare a colour film.

That members of the Committee should arrange to arrive at the Congress Centre the day before - on the 26th August so that final arrangements could be made and Resolutions selected for submission.

The General Secretary said: that he would send special letters to a number of influential people stating that the IVU would be grateful for their presence at the Congress.

That there might be a team of Indian Dancers touring the country at the time of the Congress and would give a display if possible.

That the Moscow Medical Academy might send a delegate to talk on the recent establishment of 4 Nature Cure Centres with State recognition in Baku and other Russian cities.

That he was corresponding with simultaneous translation firms and hoped to have quotations shortly.

LETTERS from Herr Hiller, Pastor Skriver, Mr B Standish (Australia) and Mr J Manker (India) were read and the points therein discussed in detail. The points made by Herr Hiller in a previous communications were also discussed and noted for the improvement of IVU work.

MESSAGES, HISTORY OF THE IVU, Application Forms etc prepared by the General Secretary for distributionm were approved.

SWITZERLAND: The President said he had not received the courtesy of a reply from Dr Eberle to whom he had written suggesting that a Congress in Switzerland might be welcomed. While the Committee did not wish to press the matter Dr Latto siad he would make enquiries.

NEXT CONGRESS: It was reported that Denmark might wish to have a Congress in 1967, Israel still not having expressed its willingness to have one. The General Secretary said he would write to the Danish Society and it was agreed that the Danish Society should decide if it was appropriate to use the Martinus Centre.

AFFILIATION of the Ordem Esoterica Initiatus (Portugal) was approved.

FEDERACION VEGETARIANA ESPANOLA was reported to have been formed during the year and since the last Congress in Barcelona. A letter was read from S del Amo (Secretary) and its Affiliation welcomed.

CONFERENCE CENTRE: Committee Members attending were taken to the Conference Centre at Swanwick, Derbyshire, and shown over the rooms, conference hall, and chapel. Approval was expressed and was thought that a very good Congress would be held. Tea was provided by the Warden.

NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING: It was agreed that the General Secretary and the British Socieites could attend to all the remianing details and that a meeting before the Congress was not necessary.
