[the minutes of this meeting are lost, but the letter below, about six weeks later, reflects the major decision taken] To: The Ulster Bank Ltd, Balymena. 10 January 1969 IVU ACCOUNT Dear Sirs, As your form of Resolution does not quite fot our procedures I am giving authority as follows: At a Committee in Hamburg on 28th November 1968 the following Minute was agreed: "That Mr Brian Gunn-King of Ballymena be elected as General Secretary of the International Vegetarian Union on the resignation of Mr geoffrey L.Rudd." According to our Constitution the Treasurer may open or authorize the opening of an account in any country (see Clause 9) and the following Minute from the above meeting covers this: "That a Bank account shall be opened in Ulster to enable Mr Gunn-King to pay in funds." {added by hand: Ulster Bank Ltd, 49 Wellington Street, County Antrim Northern Ireland, UK] It will be seen in Clause 11 that cheques shall be signed by the Treasurer (Mrs Isabel james for time being) and Assistant Treasurer (Mr Geoffrey L.Rudd for the time being) and be countersigned by The President (The Marquis de St Innocent) or one of our Vice Presidents (Dr Douglas Latto, Dr Gordon Latto fro the time being). The signature of the President will be obtained in due course (he is in Spain) but the others are herewith as authority and as specimens for your reference.
