Chairperson (Tina Fox, elected October 9, 2006)

The Chairperson shall preside at all meetings of the IC. S/he shall perform such special duties as may from time to time be delegated to him/her by the IC.

Deputy Chairperson (Saurabh Dalal, elected October 29, 2006)

If the Chairperson is not present or there is none in office, the Deputy Chairperson shall preside at meetings. If neither the Chairperson of the IC nor the Deputy Chairperson is present, a Chairperson shall be elected by the meeting.

Secretary (vacant)

The Secretary shall be responsible for the general administration of the IVU under the direction of the IC. The Assistant Secretary shall carry out the duties delegated by the Secretary and shall act for the Secretary in the latter's absence.

Treasurer (David Pye, elected October 29, 2006)

The Treasurer shall be responsible for supervising the financial affairs of the IVU and for placing the assets of the IVU under the direction of the IC.

Membership Secretary (included within the IVU Manager Role, June 2006)

Shall maintain membership records, receive membership applications and process them, ensure that money is paid into the IVU bank account and that the Treasurer is kept informed about the receipts and membership.

Magazine Editor (discontinued after the June 2002 issue)

Shall be responsible for design, layout, editing of the magazine and overseeing the printing and distribution of it, within a budget to be determined by IC, and in accordance with the Guidelines for the Publication of IVU News

Public Relations Officer (Gerry Coffey appointed in 2000, but never formally reconfirmed since then)

Shall be the main person responsible for dealing with media enquiries, making representations on behalf of IVU and for promoting the image of IVU.

The regional representative shall be responsible for co-operation with any regional vegetarian body and for overseeing the promotion of IVU within their region. They may receive subscriptions for onward transmission to the Membership Secretary and shall distribute the magazine and other IVU material within their region.

Research Co-ordinator (or Scientific Co-ordinator) (Stephen Walsh, appointed 2002, not formally reconfirmed)

• to answer questions concerning scientific issues related to vegetarianism as much as s/he can
• to forward questions s/he cannot answer to knowledgeable scientists in the various fields of investigation
• to stay in touch with the scientists working on vegetarian issues
• to stay permanently connected to the ivu-sci or other relevant lists
• to contribute articles to the IVU magazine summarising any relevant developments or features of general interest
• to ensure the vegetarian perspective is understood in scientific policy making, particularly at an international level.
