This document is 'Appendix D' to the IVU Bylaws.
- The International Council (IC) shall produce a magazine to be distributed to all members and supporters of IVU.
- The magazine shall be called 'IVU News' and shall be published twice yearly.
- Publication dates shall be in March and September of each year, with the deadlines being January 31 and July 31 respectively. These dates may be moved forward or back by one month if it assists in the promotion or reporting of a World Vegetarian Congress.
- IC shall appoint an Editor to have primary responsibility for all aspects of the magazine publication and distribution. The specific responsibilities of the Editor shall be as defined in Appendix B of the Bylaws (Roles and Responsibilities of International Council Members) which currently says: "Shall be responsible for design, layout, editing of the magazine and overseeing the printing and distribution of it, within a budget to be determined by IC."
- The content of the magazine shall be primarily material by or about IVU members and supporters, using as much original material as possible. Items which have no connection with IVU may be used at the discretion of the Editor for specific purposes but should be the exception not the norm.
- The Editor shall arrange for the magazine to be printed in any country of the world with regard to printing and distribution costs, and the
availability of a reliable person to oversee the process locally.
- The IVU Treasurer shall be consulted about the most appropriate method of payment for printing and distribution.
- Copies shall be sent direct to all IVU members and supporters from the location in which they are printed.
- An appropriate number of spare copies shall be sent to the Membership Secretary, who shall send a copy of the most recent issue to any new
members/supporters during the six months between issues.
- Attempts shall be made to sell further spare copies at any suitable congress, conference or other event likely to attract vegetarians, or other
interested people, in sufficient numbers.
- The IVU Internet Co-ordinator shall maintain a section for the website, at www.ivu.org/news , primarily for the promotion of the magazine (the
section may also be used for any Online News archives). Articles from any issue may be added to the website after copies have been sent to all members and supporters, minimum one month after publication. Translation of these articles, into as many languages as possible, shall be encouraged.
