Chocolate
Applesauce Cake 2
From: VOISIN
Yield: 12 servings
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 tbsp. Cornstarch
- 2 tsp. Baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. Salt
- 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 20 oz Unsweetened applesauce
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Mix the dry ingredients together; then add the applesauce and
stir briefly until well mixed.
Bake for 45-60 minutes, depending on the size of pan you use: more
for small, deep pans and less for a 9 X 13 pan.
Test by inserting a toothpick into the center; it's done when the
toothpick comes out clean.
If you want a really decadent-tasting chocolate cake that's vegan,
but not fat-free, try the one in Bro. Ron Pickarski's Friendly Foods.
I bought a cake at the deli counter of my local health-food store,
and they said that the recipe was the one in Friendly Foods.
I've never made it, though, because it's more complicated to make
and more fattening than I want.
