Vegan Dutch Bread

This is recipe is my mother's friend's neighbors, who is not (as far as I know) vegan. The recipe happened to be though. Anyway, it is very easy as well as healthy. I like to use maple syrup but you can also use agave nectar, corn syrup, etc.
SERVES 30 , 2 loaves
- 2 cups Red River hot cereal, uncooked
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 2/3 cups water
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
Preheat oven to 300°F.
Line 2 loaf pans with parchment paper.
Stir together all of the ingredients.
Divide batter between pans.
Cover tightly with tin foil.
Bake 1 1/2 hours, if it is uncooked still, bake an additional five minutes uncovered. |
