Thesis Practicum Proposal

Conclusion

All nonprofit organizations that promote vegetarianism, whether they be national or local, seek ways to spread their message and introduce the public to their point of view. One of the most successful means of meeting this goal is by holding a vegetarian food fair. I have seen the success of an event of this nature within my own organization, and it is clear that the benefits are worth all the planning and preparation. For organizations that have limited financial or volunteer resources, taking on such an involved project may seem overwhelming, regardless of the benefits. With careful guidance in the form of a manual that has been carefully written and planned to meet user needs, however, groups of any size should be able to successfully organize and hold a vegetarian food fair. The literature provides guidance for applying audience analysis, document design, and usability testing techniques and protocols to real-world documents such as this, and the project presents an interesting opportunity to explore their strengths and weaknesses. In conjunction with VUNA, I propose to create this manual and manage its production from the beginning stages of audience analysis through the final stages of user testing as outlined in this proposal.
