Vegetarian Food Fair Manual Draft

By following the links, you will be able to page through the current draft of the vegetarian food fair manual. Please bear in mind that this is only a draft. I expect that we will still make many changes, additions, and expansions before the manual is complete. I will also be adding visual aids, charts, checklists, and other worksheet-type materials to accompany the text.

The draft is also in the midst of a face lift, and it is not quite complete, so please be patient as you switch between formats--I'll have the entire draft coded soon!

I have also hotlinked the table of contents so that you can see which sections have been drafted and which still need to be started.

These materials are copyright 2000 by Nancy Winemiller and VUNA. Please do not use without permission, especially since this is a work in progress.

Please feel free to contact me with your questions, comments, additions, and revisions. This manual will not be successful without the input from both experienced and new food fair organizers. If you have never organized a food fair, you likely have a lot of questions about how to do so. This manual should answer your questions, and if it does not, I need to revise it.

Questions

If you have experience with food fair organizing, I hope you will consider answering some of the questions that have come up during my writing:

  • Any additional info for the "special invitations" section? Has anyone ever had a prominent public person attend their festival?
  • Sales tax: I now know that nonprofits and vendors must charge it at the fair. Vendors will be able to handle it on their own, but I'd like to write up the procedure for nonprofits. Sales tax can be figured in to the total cost of an item, but what happens after that?
