Vegetarian Food Fair Manual Draft Part IV Section 27: Celebrating the event After all of the hard work that goes into planning and holding a vegetarian food fair, it's important and fun to get together to celebrate your successful event. Once the initial follow-up takes place and you've finished all of the post-fair tasks, you should take time to congratulate yourself and recognize volunteers for the work they did to make the fair a success. You might plan to hold your next meeting at a local vegetarian restaurant or maybe organize a potluck to get your group or organization together for an evening. You might also want to organize a gathering or potluck for all volunteers who participated and their groups. It is fun and satisfying to spend time with other organizations that share your perspective and enthusiasm for vegetarianism. These kinds of get-togethers also forge new friendships and cultivate working relationships that often pay dividends for other campaigns and events. Important: If you do decide to hold an inclusive event, make sure to double-check your list of volunteers so that no one is excluded. Ask participants to bring any pictures they may have of the event or of the volunteers or other people who participated. There will likely be fun stories and anecdotes to laugh about, and people will be anxious to recount things that happened or other memorable moments. Keep the celebration separate from the follow-up described in Section 25. The celebration should be a time to feel good about what you've accomplished and relax after months of hard work. Organizing and holding a food fair is an achievement, and you and the volunteers who helped make it happen deserve a chance to take credit for reaching your goal. TOP |
