Vegetarian Society's Summerfest will mark its 25th anniversary
with its customary lineup of experts on healthy living cooking,
animal rights, the environment, and related areas.

FARM OFFERS GRANTS FOR GRASSROOTS PROJECTS
To honor the memory of Alex Hershaft's late mother, Sabina, the
animal rights group FARM has established the Sabina Fund to help
finance grassroots projects "promoting a plant-based diet
and publicizing the evils of animal agriculture." Grants
range from $500 to $2,500.

VRG INSTITUTES AUDREY FLUKE AWARD
To give recognition to persons who have promoted vegetarianism
in a cheerful and encouraging way, The Vegetarian Resource Group
will give the Audrey Fluke Award annually 1999's award will come
with a $100 savings bond.
Audrey Fluke was one of the founding members of The Vegetarian
Resource Group in 1982. A nurse, she was an extremely caring
individual who always offered support and encouragement to others.
